PlantCatching stems from a very simple idea:
It should be possible to find plants given by fellow gardeners in your neighborhood. We all like to change plants, fill a void and try a new arrangement or test whether a perennial will take to the soil or thrive in the sun – and it would be nice if the nursery wasn’t the only option.
The avid gardener always has plants to offer. It could be a perennial to be divided up, a plant that isn’t doing well in the garden or maybe some extra seedlings or seeds. We don’t always know someone to share these extras with and more often than not, they end up in the garbage or compost.
PlantCatching hopes to solve both of these problems by helping you find new plants that are close by and give you a way to offer your own to someone else. After using PlantCatching, you’d be surprised at just how many people you meet who share the same passion as you!
PlantCatching is a unique tool that not only helps people give and receive plants, bulbs and seed, but also connects neighbours who share a passion for gardening.
With PlantCatching, every home becomes a place of exchange and sharing which, in turn, helps to create connections within a community. The project can also develop the public’s education of urban agriculture and help break the feeling of isolation that some people experience.
The PlantCatching website is free and accessible from anywhere in the world. No registration is required.
